A Northern Ireland fitness app has gone global after hitting the incredible milestone of one million users.
Stronger Mobile is an innovative app created and designed by Ballymena trio Jack Fullerton, Peter Gillan and Joseph Gillan. It was launched in the summer of 2022 and has now become one of the most popular gym trackers in the world.
It recently featured in the top 10 Health and Fitness apps on the App Store, and now boasts a worldwide client base from fitness enthusiasts to personal trainers and bodybuilders.
Stronger Mobile now has users in over 190 countries including the USA, South America, Africa, Europe and Asia.
Stronger Mobile co-founder Jack Fullerton said: “It is remarkable to think that a fitness app designed in Ballymena is currently being used in virtually every country across the world. he app has proven very popular, not only in the UK, but in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the likes of Germany, Italy, Poland, India, Brazil and Argentina.
“There are just under 200 countries in the world, so to have gymgoers using the app in almost 195 of those countries reflects its worldwide popularity.”
Jack and Peter, who were schoolmates at Ballymena Academy, cultivated and fine-tuned the Stronger Mobile concept, alongside Peter’s younger brother Joseph, while studying at Queen’s University.
“The app has gone from the outline of an idea, a simple question of ‘can we make this work’, to a fully-fledged business inside three to four years,” said Jack.
“What started as a conversation at Uni has turned into a full-time business. We are also hiring other contributors and influencers, at home and in the likes of the United States, to help promote and progress the app. The journey has been quite rapid so far.”
To date, more than half a billion exercise reps and 300,000 social posts have been logged on the app, while the Stronger Mobile TikTok account has attracted almost 4.5m likes.
Co-founder Peter Gillan said: “The response has been really positive, and it became clear to us very early in the process that when someone signed up to Stronger Mobile, they tended to stay with the app or sign up to access our full suite of Pro features.
“That’s really pleasing and a major motivation to build on what has been achieved so far. People enjoy the fun social aspect of the app and the fact they can use it as a conventional gym tracker or a tool to challenge themselves, individually and with their friends.
“The focus now is on updating and developing the app even further. We want to make Stronger Mobile even bigger and better.”
While Stronger Mobile is making waves on the global stage, its roots remain firmly embedded in Ballymena and Northern Ireland.
“Our meetings and catch-ups are held in Ballymena Costa,” said Joseph Gillan. “It’s a chance to discuss the progress of the app over a coffee and discuss next steps.
“Over the past 12 months, we have gone from 500,000 to over one million account users. The progress has been fantastic, but the aim now is to build on what has been achieved so far.”
Stronger Mobile, which is free to download with optional Pro features, is available from the App Store and Google Play.
